Benefits Of Drinking Hot Water – The Anti-Aging Drink

After losing my father from pancreatic cancer and watching other family members suffer from chronic pain and illness, I am super passionate about learning and practicing natural ways of keeping our minds and bodies healthy so we can thrive and enjoy life. Without our health we cannot do anything.

In addition to life coaching, part of my own healing journey from losing my father to cancer and going through a divorce has been, that over the past four years I started practicing and studying meditation, breathwork and other healing modalities with Dr. Joseph Michael Levry at Naam Yoga Los Angeles.  One of the most important things I have been learning about in my yoga teacher training is the importance of cleansing the body of toxins each day by drinking hot water.

In my last video I shared my daily ritual that helps me stay calm and grounded during my busy days and part of my daily ritual is drinking hot water. So what’s so great about hot water?

It was a very stressful and challenging time in my life after I lost my father and went through a divorce. I was struggling with digestion issues, I felt fatigued, I was feeling extra anxious and emotional, and I had unexplained weight gain. My skin was itchy and would get hives very easily. But once I learned the science of drinking hot water three or more times a day, and started to practice it, my symptoms started to fade and have not come back! And these are not the only benefits I am experiencing.

How does it work?

Hot water helps cleanse the liver, helping the liver stay active in being one the most important organs in the body that helps the body get rid of toxins. We absorb toxins every day from our environments, food and even our emotions. A build up of toxins in our bodies can cause chronic pain, depression and illness in the body, so it’s important to have a daily practice that helps your body get rid of the toxins.

Here are the top 5 benefits of drinking hot water:

Clear Skin & Anti-Aging

Drinking hot water is a natural anti-aging and clear skin remedy. The hot water helps cleanse the kidneys and liver of toxins in the body that cause our skin to prematurely age faster. The hot water cleanses out those toxins and helps the skin cells repair and increase elasticity.

Improves Digestion

Drinking hot water helps activate the digestive system helping break down foods and eliminate excess waste. It can help with constipation by relaxing the digestive system to process the waste. Specifically for digestion, the best time to drink hot water is when you first wake up in the morning before brushing your teeth. Our saliva overnight while we sleep produces healthy bacteria that can heal our stomachs and organs when drinking the hot water.

Helps Manage Emotional Stress, Anxiety & Menstrual Symptoms

Drinking hot water helps support the central nervous system detoxing the body from toxins that cause anxious thoughts and feelings. This especially helps women during menstrual cycles as hormones tend to fluctuate. The hot water helps ease hormone changes through urine helping regulate mood swings and irritability. Hot water also helps muscles relax; some have noted relief from menstrual cramps.

Weight Management

Drinking hot water increases your body temperature and this increases your metabolic rate which helps the body burn more calories throughout the day. If you add lemon to the water it helps break down fat in the body, decrease food cravings because lemon has pectin fiber that helps manage cholesterol and high triglycerides.

Anti-Cold & Flu Virus Defense

Science shows that cold and flu viruses start with the unhealthy bacteria in our gut. Drinking hot water helps eliminate the toxins and bad bacteria. Plus the heat from the hot water helps clear the sinus pathways releasing congestion with a cold.

Since I learned all of this in yoga teacher training, I have been doing a lot of research and there are countless health articles out there online that list unlimited benefits about drinking hot water daily. One of my favorite resources is a book called the Divine Doctor, by Dr. Joseph Michael Levry. It has amazing natural health and anti-illness remedies along with meditations and breath practices. I consider it my health go-to guide.

For me hot water has replaced coffee. I have up to 4 cups of hot water a day. It truly helps me feel balanced each day, physically and emotionally. I also cling to hot water when I travel to help prevent any toxins or bugs that may be on planes and in the airports and so far I have stayed away from picking up the typical airplane cold most people get from traveling.
